Improvisational Recycling

I’ll have artwork hanging at Seattle Recreative. The show will hang May 1-31, with an opening reception on Friday, May 10 from 6-9 pm. The reception will be held in conjunction with PhinneyWood ArtWalk: The BIG One, with refreshments and the opportunity to visit local businesses in the Phinney/Greenwood area!

All pieces were created with recycled materials (including the batting, binding, and backing).

I’d love to see you there!

Save the date!

I am thrilled to announce that my piece Fractured Thoughts: My Mind on Motherhood was accepted to a national juried show!

The opening will be Friday, May 3 at Gallery Underground in Crystal City from 5-7 pm.

I hope you’ll have the chance to see the piece while it hangs!

Gallery Underground is a great space and the openings are always fun! Plus it’s bike and transit friendly, with a CaBi station and bike racks out front, and direct indoor metro access.

Thanks for all of your support!

Quilt Commissions!

Excited to be featured in this month’s issue of Seattle’s Child!

I’ve got a few spaces for commissions available, send me an email if you’re interested!

The base price is $500 for a baby/toddler sized quilt no larger than 40” on any side ($575 for organic fabric and batting), quilted with a walking foot and machine bound.

I am open to working from a pattern you love or creating a custom piece just for you. Lead time is 4-6 weeks.

If you’re interested send me an email and we can schedule some time to look over fabric possibilities in my home studio!

Improv Minis

I created these improv minis based on the Mojo Mini series by Suzy Williams. I used scraps from a larger project for both the fronts and the backs, upcycling to create a one-of-a-kind piece! I used both traditional piecing and raw edge applique in this series. The free motion quilting was also improv, and I quilted as I went along, often tracing and retracing a line several times.

The pieces are all ready to be hung with a hidden dowel, tucked into a pocket on the back.

You can purchase these pieces in my shop!

Thank You Minnie Sue

A tribute to “Pig in a Pen” by Minnie Sue Coleman (1970)

I sketched out a basic design using colors from Minnie’s original piece and then I improv pieced the top using mostly scrap pieces. The quilting is a radiating square and was completed with a walking foot.

This piece now resides in a private collection.
